Becker's Books was always a dream of owner Dan Becker. He and his brother Dain were book lovers from childhood and had talked about opening their own store. A 1990 event with Dain, Dan and Charles Dain Becker Dain taught his younger brother a great love of reading and collecting, and although he had a most untimely death, his spirit and love carries on within the Becker's Books tradition.

In 1994, Dan and Ann Becker bought a Spring Branch area house and turned it into a book lover's oasis. There are over thirty corridors of shelving holding a minimum of 90,000 titles. If you can believe it, usually within the section the titles are arranged by author so the book you seek can actually be found quite easily.

We have volumes of books for your browsing pleasure.... The bookcases are made of dark, sturdy wood and the floors are tile and wood. Often there is very strong coffee offered for free, and there is always a container of cookies ready to cut your hunger in half and keep your energy up for book hunting. We actively buy books; the most convenient day is Saturday.

Our hours are Tuesday thru Sunday 11am - 6pm, and we open the day after most holidays.
