We are located in Houston, Texas and are proud of our city. Tales of
the brave citizens that settled this wild land are fascinating and for
the most part true. In our Texas Club, (which meets the 2nd Thursday
of each month here at Becker's Books) we discuss and research these
men and women. The surnames of people we are currently researching are
Burke, Bringhurst, Hudgins, Forsgard, Cushing, Moore and Bagby. (All
residents of Houston in the mid 1800's) One goal of ours is to publish
our research and support the Handbook of Texas with accurate information
about some of the lesser known early settlers of Houston and the surrounding
area.
The website HoustonHistory.com
is a great resource to use in completing our goal. This site has loads
of valuable, detailed information about our fair city. There is also
a chat area to go to and discuss this topic with others. We are flexible
and if you go there and want to discuss Dallas or San Antonio we probably
